Moths Found on 18 July 2010

A good selection on this cooler weekend, and some beautfiful moths, though not quite as much variety as last week.  Those worth photographing were:

• a new (to us) wonderful micro: the Twenty-plume Moth, which apparently has 6 separate plumes in each wing,
• The Phoenix (previously photographed here, thanks to Billsbirding for help with the ID),
• a Swallow Prominent (previously photographed here),
• the exquisitely coiffured Silver Y (previously photographed here),
• a well camouflaged Lozotaeniodes formosanus (previously photographed here),
• the distinctive Yponomeuta agg. (previously photographed here). 

Others in the trap were lots of Least Carpets, Dark Arches, Heart & Darts, Uncertain or Vine's Rustics, Riband Waves, Dot Moths and Bright-line Brown-eyes, several Cabbage Moths, Common Footman, Pinion-streaked Snouts, Double Square-spots, Scoparia pyrallela and Stenoptilia/Platyptilia plus one each of Poplar Hawk Moth , Buff Ermin, Common Wainscot and Endotricha flamealis.
