Moths Found on 24 September 2006

Forward to 15 October 2006 moth page, back to 17 September 2006 moth page, to general moths page.

Not too cool (early teens) but yet a quiet mothing night possibly due to a fair amount of wind.  Still many Crane Flies, though no particular dominance of moth types in the trap.

Those worth photographing were:

• a Beautiful Hook-tip, about somewhat later than its usual August flying time,
• a much less worn Large Ranunculus (previously seen last week).

Others in the trap were:

• some Large Yellow Underwings, Uncertains or Vine's Rustics and Shuttle-shaped Darts,
• one each of Common Marbled Carpet, Common Wainscot, Silver Y, Copper Underwing, Light Brown Apple Moth, Garden Rose Tortrix and Carcina quercana.
