Spaghetti Bolognese

Serves 4.

Serve with 100 gm spaghetti per person and, if you like, garlic bread.



  1. Heat the oil in a thick-based saucepan.
  2. Gently soften the onion, bacon and garlic in the pan for 5 minutes approx.
  3. Add the beef, turn the heat up and brown.
  4. Add the tomatoes, purée, wine and basil.
  5. Simmer for 20 to 25 minutes for a concentrated sauce.
  6. Cook the pasta according to the cooking instructions on the packet.
  7. Season the bolognese well and serve with the pasta.
