New Moths Found on 28 May 2005

The first very warm night of the year, having been up to 28 centigrade during the day.  A reasonable catch.  The Bright-line Brown-eye, Mottled Pug, Flame Shoulder, Heart and Dart and Bee Moth I've not bothered showing below but were all present in the catch.

The impressive catches on this weekend were:

• a magnificent Burnished Brass, which we've definitely caught before but appear not to have a picture of,
• a new entrant in the form of the Common Marbled Carpet, of which there were three in the trap,
• a Brimstone Moth, which again we have seen before but apparently not photographed,
• a very fine Light Brocade and,
• another new entrant in the form of the Treble Lines.

It was far cooler the following night, but we decided to put the trap out for a second time.  Several more Light Brocades in the second catch, along with a very good example of the Flame Shoulder and Common Swift.
