New Moths Found on 30 July 2006

The mid summer weather continues with temperatures in the upper 20 C.  As well as the loads of Riband Waves we had an unusually large number of Oak Beauty Agg and Stenoptilia/Platyptilia in the trap.

Others worth photographing in the trap were:

• a newcomer in the form of the Common Carpet,

• a sample of Clepsis Consimilana (previously seen here),

• a few Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwings (previously seen here),

• a Cabbage Moth (previously seen here).

The remainder in the trap were:

• some Argyrotaenia ljungiana, Silver Ys (which are also very visible during the day), Large Yellow Underwings, Yellow Shells, Common Rustics, Daggers, Shuttle-shaped Darts, and Cnephasia Agg,
• one each of Endotricha flammealis, Straw Underwing, Mother Of Pearl, Straw Dot, Small Waved Umber, Setacious Hebrew Character, Dun Bar, Sycamore, Flame Shoulder, Pseudargyrotoza conwagana, Scoparia pyrallela and Pinion-streaked Snout.
